OK for Lower Austrian wind

Four wind parks approved last week by the Lower Austrian government will add 87 MW in Lower Austria, already host to 55% of Austria's 1,011 MW wind capacity. By 2015 Lower Austria expects to have added 170 turbines, doubling total wind output. Nearly 100% of the province's electricity needs should be met in 2015 via renewables, with both major and small hydro continuing to form the steady core of the sourcing. The four wind parks are to be built at Schamdorf (6 turbines), Prellenkirchen (8), Petronell-Carnuntum (7) and Bad-Deutsch-Altenburg (7). Lower Austria currently boasts 353 turbines in 111 parks with a total capacity of 557.3 MW.
