Call for large-scale solar

France issued a call for tender on September 15 for medium-to-large scale solar power to benefit from a guarantee feed-in tariff for twenty years. The objective is to award contracts for 120 MW annually of solar PV units on large buildings and 180 MW of other solar plants, including ground-based facilities of over 250 kW. The objective is 450 MW by 2014 Bids can be in one of three types - on buildings, using innovative technologies or using mature technologies. Within the second two categories, there are four and two sub-categories respectively, including for concentrated solar power and storage-based projects. There are MW caps by category and by plant within the category. The categories are in some cases related to technology and in others to geographical areas. Sites in need development, like disused industrial areas, will be given preference. The deadline for submissions is February 8, 2012.
