French waste contract renegotiated

Spain and France have renegotiated an accord under which France has been receiving Spanish nuclear waste since 1989 following a fire at the Vandellos I nuclear plant, nuclear waste company Enresa said October 30.Spain's first nuclear waste store is under construction at Villar de Canas in Cuenca province near Madrid. Once completed it will receive the returned Vandellos waste. As such Spain has now stopped paying €65.000/day to France under the accord, signed December 2010.
