Norwegian power trade with Europe is threatened by the prospect of vastly increased duty on power imports and exports, according to Statnett vice president Bente Hagem.Commenting on a proposal by the EU grid regulator, Acer, that the infrastructure fund set up to finance European grid improvements should be increased to €1.5 billion annually (from €100 million at present), Hagem said the huge increase in duty needed to finance this could make much of Norway's trade in electricity with Europe unprofitable, putting an end to it.
