EXAA prepares green market option

Vienna-based EXAA energy exchange is preparing to launch a green electricity trading option next year according to board manager Rudolf Schneider, speaking November 5 at Handelsblatt's annual energy conference.The platform is to provide spot and forward markets for hydro, wind and solar power authenticated by certificates supported by the German TUV Sud organization.If excess green power is offered, the surplus will revert to the normal market. Schneider anticipates initial sales primarily to Austrian, Swiss and Norwegian buyers where EXAA is already active. The move is expected to open the German market to imports of green power.
