In a first Italian investment for both companies, Japan's Mitsubishi Corporation and the Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ) have acquired stakes of 50% and 35% respectively in the renewables developer Solar Holding. The local Solar Ventures owns the remaining 15% of Solar Holding, which has 42 MW of operational PV capacity In Italy. The capacity is spread across 19 solar plants in the regions of Piedmont, Sardinia and Apulia. "The three shareholders are very positive about further developing/growing the solar business in Italy" and plan to acquire an additional 100 MW to 150 MW of Italian PV capacity "to become one of the largest players in the country," Mitsubishi said March 19.
