German 1.4-GW Neckarwestheim-2 reactor returns for final fuel cycle

Germany’s 1.4-GW Nackarwestheim-2 reactor is set to return July 9 for its final fuel cycle before closure by the end of next year, transparency data showed. Annual maintenance included the final replacement of fuel rods and a total 2,500 checks on the plant, operator EnBW said when the unit was taken offline June 11. The unit was scheduled to restart at 12:30 pm local time, according to the latest note on EEX. The return only leaves two more scheduled annual maintenance stops for Germany’s six remaining reactors before the nuclear exit is completed.
