RWE targets acquisition of Nordex’s 2.7 GW renewable project pipeline

RWE wants to buy a 2.7 GW onshore wind and solar project pipeline from Nordex covering prospects in France, Spain, Sweden and Poland, the German utility said July 31. Nordex has selected RWE as exclusive bidder for the projects with a purchase price of about Eur400 million ($475 million), it said. The bulk of the pipeline (1.9 GW) is in France. Some 15% of the projects are close to final investment decisions or in advanced development stages while 230 MW have secured Contracts for Difference (CfDs), RWE said.“France is one of the most attractive markets in Europe and characterized by ambitious renewable energy targets,” RWE Renewables CEO Anja-Isabel Dotzenrath said. The development platform comes with a team of more than 70 employees. The planned acquisition would add to RWE’s existing 22 GW development pipeline, it said.
