Germany added 305 MW of new solar capacity in April to bring additions for the first four months of the year to 1.6 GW, monthly data by grid regulator BNetzA show. Total installed solar PV capacity was 47.5 GW by end-April. Last year, a revival in German solar installation rates saw 3 GW added following a period of subdued investment after subsidy cuts. German solar output in May was down 15% on year at 5.6 TWh on below-average solar irradiation hours, TSO data aggregated by Fraunhofer ISE show.
