California scrutinizes July heat storm: more generation, others steps needed

While California narrowly avoided blackouts in July during a two-week heat wave, the state may not be as lucky the next time a heat wave strikes unless generation is increased and other actions are taken, warned generators and policymakers. But fault lines emerged among California policymakers and power suppliers on August 29 during a California Energy Commission workshop on ways to prepare for the next potential heat storm and whether agencies are taking adequate steps to be ready.
