Fresh From Poznan, French Climate Chief Says Problem Is 'getting Worse'

France's chief climate change negotiator, Brice Lalonde, could not contain his pessimism last week when he said in Houston his "major concern" now is a "run-away reaction" where the conditions of global warming get so bad, so soon, that there is nothing, or very little, any country can do. After attending the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Poznan, Poland, Lalonde told a group of about 100 at the James Baker Institute on the Rice University campus, "I feel frustrated as we negotiate, because the problem is getting worse."
