The shift toward natural gas for use in new power generation projects throughout the world is inescapable and will serve as a crucial catalyst in future strategies for one of the world's biggest integrated energy companies, said Sir John Browne, chairman of BP Amoco. Browne, in his keynote address at the Offshore Technology Conference 2000, said the past two years have been a period of dramatic change for the industry, especially in terms of strengthened energy prices, a dramatic series of mergers and acquisitions, and the movement toward natural gas.
