Look left, forward, right, and behind. Now, look left again. This is how you safely cross an intersection. Next time you're out for a walk and are about to cross one of these busy intersections, would you chance looking just one direction? Would you step out and simply hope that everything went well? No, you wouldn't take the catastrophic risk of missing an approaching vehicle, one so easily avoided by looking in every direction before you cross. Mitigating risk along pressurized pipelines is no different. Operators trust companies offering inline inspection (ILI) to look in every direction, providing them with an exhaustive assessment of oncoming risk and a strategy for mitigating it. They just can't afford to look for some threats. For many operators this means utilizing multiple smart tools, run one at a time, to piece together what and where their risks might be coming from, i.e., corrosion, dents, ovalities and crack-like anomalies, to name a few.
