摘要

We present a one-dimensional single-defect photonic crystal with quadratic nonlinearity to realize the optical parametric oscillation. In such a defective photonic crystal, the signal and idler waves are simultaneously localized while the pump wave is at the bandgap edge. Numerical results predict that such a photonic crystal optical parametric oscillator has the salient features of low threshold and high efficiency, and it can be expected as a compact high-efficiency nonlinear optical parametric oscillator to generate longer wavelength coherent radiations.
