In a recent Letter [1] we studied vortex lines in dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates, showing that under appropriated conditions, involving the presence of an additional ID optical lattice, the dipole-dipole interactions lead to the rotonization of the spectrum of Kelvin wave, which eventually results in the destabilization of the straight vortex line. After the publication of the Letter we have found an error in our numerical calculations that changes only quantitatively our results, without affecting the main qualitative conclusions of the Letter. On one side, the rotonized spectrum does not show as commented in our Letter an abrupt change of curvature, but on the contrary the roton dispersion is smooth (Fig. 1). On the other side, although the stability diagram remains qualitatively the same, the instability regime was overestimated in Fig. 3 of our Letter. The corrected stability diagram is that shown here in Fig. 2. Recent numerical simulations of the corresponding 3D nonlocal nonlinear Schrodinger equation show that the instability regime is associated with a thermodynamical instability against helicoidal vortex-line twisting. These results and more detailed calculations will be discussed in a forthcoming work.
