ARCHITECT REVEALS CULTURAL CENTER DESIGN FOR WORLD TRADE CENTER SITE

A transparent cubelike structure with 250,000 sq ft (23,225 m~2) of floor space is the latest addition to the list of edifices in New York City that will occupy the site formerly graced by the World Trade Center. The five-level Cultural Center - designed by the architecture firm Snohetta, of Oslo, Norway - will include a landscaped roof that will afford visitors a view of the planned Memorial Plaza. Much of the cube will be elevated above a series of ramps that will provide access to the structure's interior, and this open ramp design will also offer visitors at street level a view of the memorial.
