Upgrading a semi-submersible MSV for subsea well intervention

This Paper describes how a semi-submersible vessel was upgraded to handle well intervention equipment, the modifications carried out on the vessel and the criteria for the selection of a particular vessel. The vessel upgrade aside, the equipment requirements for conducting well intervention and the recent history of using the upgraded vessel and Riserless Light Well Intervention (RLWI) system are also discussed.
