On the English version of Chinese personal names

The representation of Chinese personal names in English is very confusing, and important features of the Chinese language and naming practice are more or less lost. After a close look at the Chinese linguistic forms, especially in Mandarin Chinese, and at Chinese naming practice, we would suggest that translators should respect the source culture more instead of rendering it randomly, as reflected in the different English versions of Chinese personal names.
