New Jersey Superior Court Judge John E. Harrington of Burlington County entered on April 30 a $14.1-million consent judgment settling claims of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection with some 200 defendants for cleanup and damages at BEMS Landfill site in Southampton Township, New Jersey.The lawsuit involved claims against 200 generators, transporters, municipalities, and owners/operators who were allegedly responsible for the disposal of waste at the site, including the property known as the Burlington Environmental Management Services Inc. (BEMS) in Burlington County.
