Knowledge Management (KM) has seen its luster fade over the past year, and for good reason. Many vendors and organizations, adopting KM with great fervor, did not realize what it was they were adopting. Knowledge management is not a turnkey system that a company purchases off die shelf. Its role as a management fad has waned, with the best concepts now tied to normal managerial practice. Knowledge management remains dependent on the fundamental belief that intellectual assets are valuable, and that leveraging those assets is essential to an organizations success.
