Finland's pulp and paper industry: Environmental load continues to decrease

The Finnish pulp and paper industry's emissions to receiving water bodies continued to decline in 2004 in spite of the increased output: solids emissions declined by 18 %, biological oxygen demand by 17 % and phosphorus emissions by 13 %. The volume of landfill waste decreased last year by 16 % and that of problem wastes by one third.
