Finnish paper industry records higher pulp and paper output in Q1

The Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF) reports that paper production has recovered from economic decline and structural change. According to the FFIF, proof of this fact is furnished by the increase in production seen in the first quarter of 2011. Between January and March 2011 pulp production rose by 3%, while 7% more paper was produced than in the corresponding period of the previous year. On balance, paper and board output was up by 7% compared to the first quarter of 2010. The value of all forestry products in the first three months of this year is estimated at €5bn and was therefore 5% higher than the corresponding year-earlier value. Rising by 14%, the output of wood-containing paper was relatively high.
