UPM's next biofuel-iired power plant will go on stream at the Caledonian Paper Mill in Scotland in early 2009. Where applicable, it will follow the example set by the company's paper mills in Shotton, Wales, and Chapelle Darblay, France. However, the Caledonian Paper Mill does not produce newsprint or use recycled paper, which also means that the new power plant will not burn de-inking waste. The new biofuel-fired power plant will cost 88 million euros and will use 350 000 tonnes of biomass and production-generated waste per annum.
