ANCIENT LIBRARIES OF MESOPOTAMIA

The civilization and libraries were bom simultaneously in Egypt and Mesopotamianfor the first time in thé history of the mankind. The libraries have always played annimportant role in helping human beings to meet his basic needs pf survival and selfnrealization. Hence the libraries were established in each and every part of the civilizednworld since remote past. In this paper an attempt has been made to give a brief accountnregarding the emergence of the libraries of Mesopotamia. Many libraries have beenndiscovered in Mesopotamia especially the libraries of Sargon II, Assurbanipal,nHammurabi and Zumrilim.
