The civilization and libraries were born simultaneously in Egypt and Mesopotamia for the first time in the history of the mankind. The libraries have always played an important role in helping human beings to meet his basic needs pf survival and self realization. Hence the libraries were established in each and every part of the civilized world since remote past. In this paper an attempt has been made to give a brief account regarding the emergence of the libraries of Mesopotamia. Many libraries have been discovered in Mesopotamia especially the libraries of Sargon II, Assurbanipal, Hammurabi and Zumrilim. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
