Hartness International's Uvaclear~(TM) is a line of organic inks for direct-on-glass container screen printing. Inks are "ecologically friendly" and uv-curable in about a quarter of a second. They are initially being marketed to beer, beverage, and wine and spirits packagers, and to the glass container suppliers who serve them. Compared to ACL (applied ceramic labeling) and other organic inks, Uvaclear can improve productivity, as bottles can be immediately handled after screen printing on decorating units from Kamman. The organic nature of the ink also makes it suitable for recycling because it is burned off during the recycling process without contamination.
