摘要

We’re all familiar with the quote, “Do a few things, but do them well.” It’s been attributed to numerous sources. And while none seems to specifically address occupational safety and health, concentrating on a handful of injury and illness reduction strategies is a sustainable safety strategy. This Compliance Report makes the case for three efforts worth your effort: preventing falls, preparing for OSHA inspections (whether or not they take place), and engaging your employees in creating a safer workplace. Annually, more than 260,000 public and private industry workers miss 1 or more days of work due to injuries from falls. About 800 falls result in death each year. The construction industry typically experiences the highest frequency of fall-related deaths, while health care, wholesale, and retail businesses see the highest numbers of nonfatal fall injuries.
