Effects of artificial serum used for in vitro fertilization in mice and patients with infertility caused by endometriosis

Serum from patients with endometriosis has been suggested by many researchers to have embryotoxic effects. Here, in an evaluation of the effects of such serum on the development of mouse embryos, the fertilization and cleavage rates during in vitro fertilization with serum added to the culture medium or not, or else with artificial serum added, were examined. In addition, the fertilization rate, the transfer score, and the collection-and-transfer score during in vitro fertilization for human embryo transfer were examined with the same additions.
