Telefonica in talks to connect Cuba to regional cable system

Spain's Telefonica has offered to connect Cuba to its international cable system with a view to improving the country's internet access, reports EFE. The company made the announcement during an official visit to the island by Spanish president Pedro Sanchez, accompanied by a large delegation of leading businesses interested in setting up or expanding their presence in Cuba. The operator reportedly offered to connect the country via a branch line to the submarine cable network it's currently deploying in the Caribbean as part of its Latin America infrastructure.
