Modeling of business processes and functions of an industrial unit for ERP system application

A significant advancement and development (horizontal and vertical) of Business Process Reengineering (BPR) has been observed during the recent years, due to the many benefits and the improvement and applicability of business operations, in general, resulting from BPR application, as well as from the availability and convergence of information technologies and operational research. The present study deals with the methodological framework of advanced techniques for the analysis and modeling of business (management and production) processes as well as the results-conclusions of their study-application in a large industrial unit. The two most important approaches for operations analysis are applied: function-based and process-based. The above models are deployed for the first case using the Integration Definition for Function Modeling (IDEFO) technique, while for the second case, using the classical analytical flowcharts. The optimum exploitation of the results, the maximization of the benefits and the achievement of the farthest goals leads to the development/ implementation (or adaptation) and installation of an ERP system.
