It came as a considerable surprise to me, when I read The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs by A. Wolf [1], that certain age-old and cherished beliefs might not be as timeless and true as I wanted them to be. You know, of course, the story of the three little pigs. According to my print copy [2], the text of which was taken from the version by J.O. Halliwell (the first known English-language edition, printed in about 1860), three small pigs were sent out one day to seek their fortune because their mother did. not have the resources to keep them.
