A T&T's entrance into online information has been watched with keen interest by the rest of the industry. With a proposed suite of products including business, consumer, trans-actional, and Internet services, AT&T looms over the whole field of electronic information. Its products— backed by the company's size, name recognition, and R&D skill—have made it a serious player from the start. AT&T Business Network was one of S the first AT&T information services to appear. But it has had to share the stage with a host of clamorous announcements from other companies as consumer online was remade by a series of big events—from repositionings by established services such as America Online and CompuServe, to major makeovers from DataTimes and M.A.I.D., to brand new services such as Microsoft Network.
