A9 launched its OpenSearch initiative [http://opensearch.a9. com], which expands its vertical results column options to include a wide variety of other databases. Knowledgeable users can even create their own. With well over 150 new search columns now available, OpenSearch has options for PubMed, The New York Times, Flickr photos, Wikipedia, A9 Top Blogs, and many more. Ask Jeeves now has a search toolbar that works in Mozilla Firefox. Once installed, the toolbar lets a user search Ask Jeeves, save pages to MyJeeves, save locations, and snip content from Web pages. It is also to be bought out by Barry Diller's IAC/InterActiveCorp.
