This book is meant to get you thinking about how and why people organize knowledge within a variety of contexts. It is not a how-to manual for implementing taxonomies. It is a guide to how people organize information and objects in personal, professional, and social contexts. The author is an associate professor in the School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Oklahoma, and her research focuses on "the intersections of users, technology, and structures for organizing knowledge." Clearly her work has led her both to explore how we have organized things in the past and to speculate on ways we can organize in the future.
