Recommended Reading on New Professionals, New Roles, Digital Information, and Pinterest

This month I look at several books on the expansive roles of librarians and the skills you need to get by, an overview of the new digital information landscape, and a how-to guide for Pinterest. Although this book is aimed at newly minted librarians, archivists, and records managers, practicing ones can learn from it as well, not only to refresh skills but also to explore new areas or change focus. The author is content development manager at Mimas, University of Manchester (a U.K. national data center and collection of experts); she works on Copac and the Archives Hub. She won an SLA Rising Star Award in 2010, serves on the board of SLA Europe, and is an active member of CILIP's New Professionals network. She based this book on the new skills she had to develop since leaving library school only 4 years ago.
