CONFERENCE CORRAL

In today's world of ubiquitous computing, it's hard to recall what computers meant to librarians decades ago. The first Computers in Libraries conference, known then as the SCIL (Small Computers in Libraries) conference, was held in 1986, making the 2015 version its 30th iteration. A bit of history: Alan Meckler bought the Small Computers in Libraries newsletter from its founding editor, University of Arizona professor Allan D. Pratt, in 1984 and shortly thereafter started a conference with the same name. Meckler later changed the name to Computers in Libraries and sold both the conference and the publication to Information Today, Inc. in 1995.
