ATHENS PROVED AN EXCELLENT CHOICE for IFLA to hold its 85th World Library and Information Congress (WLIC), Aug. 24-30, 2019. This ancient city, which is named after Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, attracted almost 3,700 delegates from 140 countries. This year's WLIC had Dialogue for Change as its theme. With 278 sessions, including business meetings, open educational sessions, Congress-wide special events, and exhibitor presentations, plus almost 200 posters on display, delegates had many opportunities to learn, converse, and share their knowledge and wisdom. The exhibit booths were scattered throughout the Congress venue, an interesting departure from the normal discrete exhibit hall that is standard for most conferences. Depending on the location, some exhibitors benefitted from the different layout, while others found that fewer people came to their somewhat-hidden booths. Those closest to the entrance saw the most traffic.
