Today, numerical modelling is tackling increasingly complex problems that often require the use of more than one software package. In this situation, the necessary solution is a loose coupling between specialized codes. This means making use of the existing packages to communicate whilst respecting their respective organisations and development schemes. This procedure allows the user to employ the most suitable methods for each discipline.
