PCs had VisiCalc. Macs had Pagemaker. The Internet has what? Until a few years ago, that was an open-ended question—until Marc Andreessen and his colleagues at NCSA (National Center for Supercomputing Applications) came up with Mosaic, a way for anyone to search the Web. Andreessen is credited with creating for the Internet the Killer App, the tool that propels Internet technology from usefulness to specialists only to something even a child can use.
