Some 66 Petro Express C-stores purchased by The Pantry earlier this year in the Carolinas will fly the Texaco flag, thanks to a new branding pact worked out between company execs and Chevron. Many of the stations are in the Charlotte, N.C., market and prior to Pantry's purchase were aggressive price leaders. The Pantry already has a relationship with Chevron, with 200 of its stores flying Chevron or Texaco flags. Most of those sites, however, had those flags when The Pantry took title to the various chains. The deal with Chevron appears to be the first time that the C-store aggregator has made a commitment to reflag a large chunk of its private-brand stations.
