When it comes to setting formulae for new E10 blends of gasoline, there is no consensus for how to fairly tie downstream rack purchases to spot numbers witnessed each day in the major bulk markets. Many of the largest multi-state jobbers don't buy their fuel at posted prices, but instead buy based on a negotiated premium over spot benchmarks. Platts' numbers still are dominant in such deals, although quite a few marketers have switched to assessments rendered by OPIS or Argus since Platts' moved to a trading window for rendering pivotal ranges.
