Retail diesel margins hit new low

It has not been a pleasant week for gasoline and diesel fuel retailers. Retail profits for both fuels plunged to single digits. For diesel, current margins are the smallest they have been in a year-and-a-half, since May 2008, according to the latest numbers from OPIS Retail Fuel Watch. Gas margins melted 38% in under seven days.rnSpot and wholesale product costs for retailers have soared more than 30cts/gal in the last three weeks, a rate of 10cts/gal per week.
