Exxonmobil To Close Northeast Terminal

ExxonMobil plans to shutter its terminal in Springfield, Mass., this spring, and that could put some strain on gasoline distribution in western Massachusetts and other parts of New England. The 305,000-barrel facility is the last remaining terminal in the area that carries bulk gasoline. At least six other suppliers provide gasoline and diesel at the terminal on exchange, so marketers may have to make longer hauls from Boston or Albany, N. Y., to secure bulk transport of gas.The major has other northeastern terminals on the sales block, but sources say buying interest has dried up with tight credit. The Springfield facility was never shopped.
