Canadian mandate looms in December

The Canadian government has finalized its renewable fuel standards which will require that all gasoline in the country average 5% ethanol starting in December, with biodiesel moving to a 2% bio component next year.rnThe regulations, originally proposed in 2006, moved through public comment earlier this year. At least one major change came in the form of moving the start date from September to Dec. 15, 2010. The first compliance period to meet the 5% requirement will extend from this December through Dec. 31, 2012. Thereafter, the compliance will be based on the calendar year.
