Las Vegas relaxes vapor pressure standards after years of Clean Air attainment

Refiners and marketers will be able to supply a less expensive blend of gasoline to the Las Vegas area this coming fall and winter. Clark County is in the process of relaxing local fuel specs to allow a 13.5 psi RVP gasoline with ethanol to replace the 9.0 psi ethanol blend now required.rnThe county is ditching the lower-RVP gasoline because Clark has been "in attainment" with carbon monoxide (CO) standards since 1998, said the Clark County Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management. The federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) should approve the change made to the state implementation plan by late September. Like the 9.0 lb. gasoline, the 13.5 psi blend will sell in Las Vegas from Oct. 31 to March 31 of each year.
