How to promote mentoring among drivers

Commercial drivers can be loners. It's almost a prerequisite for those who make their living spending long hours alone on the road. But Terry Tesch, with R.B. Stewart Petroleum Products Inc., of Angleton, Texas, would like to see the more experienced drivers work with the greenhorns to improve their driving habits and enhance a culture of safety. Tesch believes that some coaching might be easier to receive from another driver than it would from a supervisor. "We want drivers to police themselves," he said.
