Supply chain disruptions to continue into 2022-2023

The COVID-19 pandemic brought what experts have called the most severe supply chain disruption in decades, an unprecedented labor shortage, and historic inflation. Unfortunately, there is no quick fix. “We have not seen supply delays anything like this before,” said Chris Williamson, chief business economist for IHS Markit, the parent of OPIS, in a December webinar on what to expect of the supply chain in the coming year. Williamson said the disruption caused by the pandemic was the worst in at least 30 years, resulting in shortages of critical raw materials and “record cost increases.”
