The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) asked EPA to promote sales of E15 to help mitigate potential gasoline shortages and price spikes in disasters such as Hurricane Ida. In a letter to EPA Administrator Michael Regan, RFA President and CEO Geoff Cooper said the agency could "help extend U.S. fuel supplies and protect consumers from price spikes" by temporarily suspending regulations that restrict the ability of fuel terminal operators, blenders and marketers to offer E15. In addition, he asked that EPA immediately adopt changes proposed in January that would make it easier to store the higher ethanol blend in existing underground storage tanks.
