A police officer's death in Laval, Quebec was the result of incomplete verification of gun registry information and an insufficient risk assessment before entering a residence during a drug raid.rnDaniel Tessier died on March 2, 2007. At about 5 am that day, a team of five police investigators, as part of efforts to bust a drug-selling ring, were carrying out a search of a private residence, the CSST reports in a statement. Entering the home, the officers shouted "Police," and a shoot-out quickly followed. Tessier was hit three times and later died.
