Ceona and Marine Platforms secure Nigerian contracts

Nigeria is a base for a considerable amount of contract work for offshore support vessels (OSVs) in the Gulf of Guinea. Oil companies continue to invest in offshore projects despite the security issues that blight onshore communities and shipping through piracy. Italian energy group Eni and Anglo-Dutch group Shell continue to contract subsea contractors and vessel operators for projects offshore Nigeria. London-based Ceona is the latest to win contracts for offshore projects in the country. In November 2014, it announced securing two contracts in Nigeria with a combined total value of US$30 million. Ceona will be working with local strategic partner Marine Platforms on the projects from early in 2015. Together, they will provide subsea engineering and installation work for the Abo 12 development for Eni subsidiary Nigerian Agip Exploration. The full scope of work incorporates the installation of flexible flowlines, umbilicals, a pipeline end manifold and suction pile system. Offshore operations are due to commence in February 2015.
